Taylor Power System Partners with Hinds Community College on Apprenticeship Program

Taylor Power Systems has joined forces with Hinds Community College and the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to establish a Registered Apprenticeship program for Production Technologists.
In June, an apprenticeship ceremony took place at the Taylor Power manufacturing facility in Clinton, Mississippi. Dr. Stephen Vacik, President of Hinds Community College, presented Adam Smith, General Manager of Taylor Power, with a certificate from the DOL, officially recognizing Taylor Power as an apprenticeship partner.

During the event, Ryan Gaines, a Hinds Community College student and Clinton native, was selected as the first Registered Apprentice and signed an agreement with Taylor Power. To commemorate this achievement, Anna Nutt, Director of the Clinton Chamber, presented Ryan with a gift. Clinton Mayor Will Purdie also attended the ceremony to congratulate Ryan and expressed gratitude to Taylor Power for their investment in the community.

Representatives from Entergy, Accelerate MS, and the Mississippi Department of Employment Security were also present to show their support. Ryan will be working under the guidance of Kelly Johnson, R&D and Production Support Manager, in the Research and Development Department at Taylor Power. Notably, Kelly Johnson is a proud graduate of the Diesel Technology program at Hinds Community College, class of 2006.

We welcome Ryan to the team and appreciate our partnership with Hinds Community College and the City of Clinton.
